A Mural
Movement
>>>
From humble beginnings: The idea for a mural began as a simple Rotary project. President Brett Hubka selected the goal of installing one mural as his chosen community project during his tenure... just one. Another Rotarian suggested that the club be open to putting up more, assuring Brett that the money would come if the idea was a good one.
Sure enough, the money came in and the idea took off. Brett asked a cross-section of people from the community to serve on a seven-person mural committee, and the Mural Movement of Clay Center was born. Business owners began contacting the group, asking how they could get their building on the list to be beautified. More than twenty-five murals later, the Mural Movement is still going strong with plans for the future. Our murals are a great attraction for our community, drawing traffic from Hwy 15 to stop at the mural(s), grab a bite, shop downtown and enjoy all Clay Center has to offer.

It’s hard to imagine a more fitting tribute to the pillars of courage, those who toward danger when most would turn their backs. We thank all firefighters and first responders for their bravery. We could not have done this without the support of Craig and Terri Parry who graciously helped fund this mural.

Wow. This 3,200 square foot mural captures the raw majesty of the Kansas prairie with its vibrant technicolor depiction of a bison stampede. It transforms the traditional earthy tones of the landscape into a dynamic spectacle of color and motion. A must-see, this piece appears to burst from the canvas, conveying a sense of unstoppable force and freedom.
