Morganville

Sister City to Feves France

A great place to live and work!

Morganville was the smallest town ever to be part of the international “Sister City” program. In 1948, the town adopted the community of Feves, France. The story of their project was broadcast on Elmore M. McGee’s award-winning NBCprogram “The People Act” during Christmas, 1953. A hand-carved picture sent by the people of Feves to the people of Morganville as a thank you for the help they had given the French community is in the Morganville cafe.

Community Chamber Orchestra Concert

Morganville School

Take a multi-media trip with the Community Chamber Orchestra to beautiful Ireland with music, photography, and dancers celebrating St. Patrick's Day.  Hundreds of photos, many of which were taken this past summer and early fall in Ireland, will be included. All types of Irish songs will be played, with two including the Shannon Stark middle school dance team of Slagle Studio.  A viola solo by Ralph Vaughan Williams will be performed by Elisabeth Efken of Manhattan High School.  Food vendors are being sought to sell Irish dishes during intermission and after the concert.

The concert is family friendly and handicap accessible, with tickets selling for $8/person or $18/family. They are available at www.kansasmusic.net, Mayo's Department Store in Clay Center, and from the musicians.    For more information contact Dr. Anne Clark, 785-926-4725 or baclark@twinvalley.net.  Community Chamber Orchestra is a unique string chamber orchestra operating in rural North Central Kansas, employing youth and adults who perform without a conductor.
